Senoir Lauren Sims, the team captain for the 49er women's basketball team has been selected as Long Beach State's institutional representative to the Rhodes Scholar selection committee. Sims is a biology-physiology major with a minor in chemistry. Sims has maintained a 4.0 grade average while also being a participant in numerous community activities.
Ever since coming to the campus she has been a great student-athlete. Sims is a two-time Big West Conference all-academic selection and was the voted as the LBSU 2008-2009 Big West Female Scholar-Athlete of the year. She has also received many other NCAA scholar awards.
On the court Sims currently ranks fourth on the 49er career charts in 3-point field goals made and is sixth in 3-point field goals attempted and 3-point field goal percentage.
